I used to like running..

I do want to get back into it. There’s so much of peace when I run. Hit the music and just go. Yes I am maybe a bit too heavy but the last couple of months I have managed to lost more than 15kg and I do feel a lot lighter and a lot mobile. The more I run, the faster I will lose weight (provided that I keep to my diet).

This morning when I woke up I was deciding whether to go to the gym or to walk. I decided to go walk instead because i wanted to sweat out. The weekend has been quite bad for my diet and doing weights not going to help much in removing the toxins unless I whack big time. So walking was the best. As I got to the car, then the tummy started giving me tummy issues. So I had no choice and did a stop at the other park (not arboretum) as it has a working toilet. Given the time spent in the toilet, I had no choice but to run or walk at the park. So I run lor.

I ran very slow because of my weight and fitness level. Whilst maintaining about 135BPM, I also ensure that not much impact to my knee. I remember a video that i saw about running slowly with smaller steps is much better than whacking. Well – to my benefit it works. I ran most of the track but of course extremely slow. Probably about 20% faster than my walking speed. I can obviously run faster but after 200-300 meters, I probably run out of steam and will be complaining of aching bones.

I think tomorrow I will continue running, maybe try at least three sessions this week. It’s relaxing especially if it’s outdoor. Indoor is a tad boring. And if I don’t have any shows to watch, I would probably fall asleep.

I need to think about my strategy after I get my new car. It is plug in hybrid therefore I need to charge it. The gym in the curve have a charger so maybe I need to run at the gym while waiting for the arrangement for power socket in my parking bag my apartment get sorted out. Let’s see.

Polar Wearlink+

Polar today announced that there will be a new WearLink called Polar WearLink+ which is a heart rate monitor that will work with Nike+. This new product will work together with Nike+ SportsBand and Nike+ Ipod Sport Kit (woohooo).


This new gadget will allow heart rate data to be transmitted to both watches (read further for compatible polar products) and Nike+ stuffs. In addition to that, the users will be able to view their heart rate from Ipod and of course transmit their heart rate data to website. This is definitely a great news for gadget+fitness psycho combine their geekful interest with healthy fitness regime.

The product will be available in July. Hopefully it’ll reach Malaysia/Singapore by end of the year – in time for Singapore Marathon!

The soft textile chest strap seamlessly adapts to the user’s body shape, bringing full freedom of movement to the training session. The comfortable textile strap is also machine-washable and with its hook mechanism, the transmitter is just as quick to put on as it is to take off. Finally – Nike+ Heart Rate Monitor



Linked from the shoemaker forums here – that nike is finally going to release a Heart Rate Monitor that will be compatible with the range of Nike+ products. This is definitely an awesome news – and will open up a whole bunch of potential with regards to fitness management via the iPhone.

I used Nike+ before to track my runnings – but eventually skip it because it does not have integration to any Heart Rate Monitors. Who knows – if the heart rate monitor by Nike is more comfortable than polar – i might just give it a change.

I guess its about time, as other shoemakers like Adidas has already launched their HRM. And if nike does not follow suit – it gonna be a disaster. Hey – Nike+ is super awesome. IPhone or Ipod has very good interface 😀 Now.. lemme think, will it work with IPAD? Coz i actually use ipad during on treadmills. He he..

Its marathon season again, and its time to up the ante and work hard for the next marathon. Since its the first night marathon, the expectation for the organization gonna be quite low..

Human Race 10k+

After about 1 month of absence from using my Iphone to track my running distance, today i finally started using it again. Honestly, I have reduced quite significant my mileage, clocking about 15-20km only per week since end of fasting month. Even then, I don’t use Iphone to track it because my Nike+ sensor was running out of battery – thus it keep giving me inaccurate speed!

Anyway, this morning – i decided to hit the gym for a 10k (instead of the plan run in Taman Tasik, sleep seems to be more enticing). Coincidentally, today is also the Human Race 10k+. I managed to sync in time and now, waiting for the results to be in 🙂 I doubt I will be anywhere near the top 100k around the world. I did run very slow – very very slow. I would need to push up at least about 30 seconds pace from today’s run – in order to run below 5 hours for a marathon. Gosh….

Singapore Marathon – 14 weeks to go

Singapore Marathon is about 14 weeks from now, and seriously – i don’t think i have enough time to prepare for it. My weekly mileage has been extremely low in the past couple of weeks, especially with the fasting month. I should be clocking at least 50km a week to be comfortable for the run, with one long run every weekend. Now my long runs are limited to 10km (time and laziness is the limitation…).

Anyway, decided to use Nike+ to help me train, they have this cool feature called coach, where it can schedule a bunch of runs for you, in view of the build up for a marathon. The problem is, it’ll take 28 weeks to finish the mileage buildup – which is double the time that i have for the Singapore Marathon. Perhaps – i shall take Singapore Marathon as a, in between race. The 28 weeks training is for the Paris Marathon perhaps… The image below shows the target for week number 1…

Which is pretty short target, 4 miles only 😀 In fact for today – i definitely have surpass the target but about 3 miles… bwahahahahaha. My slow run just now was this..

1:09:39 was my time for 10k, which is too slow considering the fact that I should be going for below 1 hour. WIth the parameters like fasting, and lack of food during sahur – its ok lah. Plus i need to conserve some energy for the rest of the day. Then again, if maintain the same pace for 42.195km, i should be doing it within my target – which is below 5 hours.. we shall see lah..

Looks like tomorrow i have to run again ! Kah kah kah
