Ponder

Whinings

Sometimes…

  • I really wonder what is instilled for me in the future
  • Am I really happy with the present
  • Did I do well in the past

In the past couple of weeks, I have been getting reflections of my past memories. Memories of the moments when things were so much simpler. The days when I first started work. And it made me think, of what will it be if I were in the same position at the same time today.

It is always hard to think about this. Different times, different season, different variables. Did I make the right decisions then, could I have chosen a different path and shape a different me. Will I be happier.

Honestly – there is no right or wrong answer. I have made very wise decisions before, and of course have made very bad ones too. Some I still regret till today. But life is never fair, and we need to continue to move on. Whatโ€™s important is what are you going to today, tomorrow and the next days after. What happened before will just be memories and history. We should not be sad or happy with what had been done, but we need to think forward. We can always be a better person in the next minute, but never the previous minute.

So much of pondering today. Wonder why I am like this. Perhaps – I have been alone, not much of meeting people or socializing. Perhaps thatโ€™s the case why my mind is going guns blazing.

Such serious thoughts for a Saturday night.

Maybank Cardless Withdrawal

Fun Posts

In the past year, I’ve been losing my memory! Or rather been a bit too careless. There have been many instances where I left my wallet at home, resulting me driving around illegally without license, in addition to not having cash at all! This is really bad – serious.

Yesterday –ย I went out for brunch/lunch together with the rest of my family – thank god for the not so clear photo taken by the waiter. Hehe. I usually don’t like to have my photo taken in public, but I guess it is what it is:)

After reaching Empire Shopping Gallery, I realised that my wallet was not with me. Unlike previous incidences, I am pretty sure that I didn’t carry it. It’s probably is still in my motorcycle jacket (and it was). I guess no money. I keep on telling my sister that I have no money to pay for lunch, and one of them will need to pay for it ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway – to cut things short, whilst waiting for them to come (yes I was on time which is 11.30am), I decided to flip around and remembered my ex-colleague (Amran) told me about the cardless withdrawal with Maybank. So i decided to trigger this thru my Maybank2u app on my phone and transfer the monies. Maximum of 300 bucks, which is more than enough. Immediately, I receive SMS from them – it’s way faster than TAC!

The first SMS above I received, is a notification to yourself. Where I am supposed to pass the 6 digit code to your friend (which is in this case is myself!). The second SMS is a 16/17 digit code that the recipient receives ๐Ÿ™‚

After getting the SMS-es, I headed over to ATM and withdraw the cash!

First is to put in the mobile number, followed up by the 16/17 digits D

Next, I put in the 6 digit code… wooo whoo.

The money magically appeared!

At the same time, I also received a notification of the cash has been withdrawn. Pretty good.

Seriously – I think as we move on, this is the way to go. In fact, why do I need an ATM card, why can’t I just use my phone to withdraw cash ALL THE TIME. It’s so easy – seriously ๐Ÿ™‚

Travel dream

Whinings

Sometimes I always wonder what it feels to travel the world without having anything to worry. Just riding the bike all over the place, experience new cultures and meet new people.

In the past few years, I’ve not travel much due to work commitment. In fact I have not travel much my whole life. During my studies back in the UK, I didn’t travel as much as what normally typical Malaysian students would do. I didn’t back pack across Europe nor took the Eurostar across to Paris. The furthest I’ve gone was to go to Lake Windermere for a competition, fully paid by EDS.

It is my dream to travel the world. Hopefully in my lifetime I would be able to do that. Just jump into my bike and zoom across the continent without any worry of what I have left behind. Obviously I would come back as family commitments are much more important than anything else to me.

Well, now it comes to my retirement plan. I hope to retire early. Perhaps before 50. I can’t believe that I am even considering this, I guess age is catching up and I started realizing that I have not done a lot of stuffs in the past 37 years or so. But all is not lost, we’ve all done a lot in the past and we will do much more in the future. Crying of spoilt milk is a waste of time. We just need to plan for the future and continue to dream and perseveres so that we can achieve our dream.

Enough of whining… Time to move on and plan my next step…

Yahoo Messenger Coming to iPhone (With 3G Video Calls)

Fun Posts, Geek Stuffs

videochatFew months ago, Apple launched iPhone 4 together with a striking new feature called Facetime. Facetime is a WIFI-based feature that will vdeo allow calls to be made between two iPhones (and later iPod touch). In order to support these feature, the new iPhone 4 and iPod Touch now comes with a front camera

Facetime quality is definitely excellent, but the problem is โ€“ its not as mobile as what people want it to be. It only supports wifi. In addition to that, Facetime can only work with another Facetime client. Until there are more clients for Facetime, I think this feature will just be a hype.

Riding on the wave of mobile video calls โ€“ are Yahoo Messenger. They have announced that the new version of iPhone-based Yahoo Messenger (and Android too) will come with 3G video call feature. This new feature will allow the user to interact with anybody who is using

Yahoo Messenger. Hence you get an agnostic solution to a simple problem Open-mouthed smile

I would definitely be looking forward for this new functionality, as I think video call is the way of the future, and inter-operatability is direction moving forward. In fact, if we look at video conference providers, all of them focus on the same standard which is H.323 to enable different software and hardware to talk to each other. Find the app at https://app.sinpin.com/, which will keep you connected to your loved ones around the world!

I am so looking forward for this functionality. I do hope Yahoo will come out with a quality app for the iPhone. Hey man, not just it can do video call across different platforms, but it can also work on 3G!

Woo hoo..!
