Old Man @ Ipoh

Here’s another throwback photo from way back in 2006. I remember this trip to Ipoh because it’s pretty similar to the photo I took earlier. I went there just to snap some pics and try out the local food. I didn’t know much about Ipoh at the time, so I just wandered around and found whatever I liked to eat. But it was still an awesome trip!

The funny thing about this photo is that I’m not exactly a photography pro, so it’s not exactly a masterpiece. The exposure difference between the background and the foreground is just terrible. I tried to fix it in Photoshop back then, but it was a total pain. I couldn’t even figure out how to recover the shadows. Fact of the matter, I didn’t even know what shadows were back then – I just thought they were just bright and dark.

As you can see in the photo below, the original image is pretty bad. But I was able to edit it in less than 3 minutes. It was super easy – I just brought up the shadows, made the image a bit clearer, and added a radial gradient to make it look more focused. I’m actually really into this stuff now.

The technology has come a long way since then, especially with Lightroom. It makes editing photos so much easier and faster. The technology has come a long way since then, especially with Lightroom.
