I am a Star Wars fan. I have watched all the Star Wars movie since the first one – Episode IV. It is probably one of the first science fiction movie that I watched when I was young, and never can get enough of it.
Last night I watched Rogue One. The eighth Star Wars movie (excluding the animated movie) that I have watched. The movie is set between Episode III and Episode IV where it shows how the Rebels managed to get the plans that allowed them to blast the Death Star. I always wonder how did the Rebel get their plans as Episode IV started somewhat in the middle of a story where Princess Leia was being ambushed by the Imperial Forces.
The characters as far as I remembered are as follows:
Jyn Erso – The lead character. The daughter of Galen Erso. She was left to be brought up by Saw Garerra when she was young as the father was “captured” by the Imperial forces to help in building the weapon of mass destruction. She was then left to survive on her own by Saw Garerra, on the pretext that she is too dangerous. Saw did mentioned during the movie that the Jyn was on of his best cadet and has the confidence that Jyn will survive.
Captain Cassian Andor – Rebel spy! He was the Rebel spy that who got the information that there was a defected Imperial pilot.. He was that tasked to accompany Jyn in the mission to validate information with Saw Garerra, which then led to Eadu where Cassian wanted to kill Galen Erso. Despite having Galen in the sniper scope, he didn’t pull the trigger. I did feel that there was some romantic connection between Cassian and Jyn. The body language shows it but there weren’t any kissing scenes (at least in Malaysia lol)
Galen Erso – The Imperial Scientist, the father of Jyn Erso, the man behind the Death Star. He was the lead scientist that led the who project to build Death Star, the planet killer! During the show – it seen as if Galen abandoned the project to live in a remote area with the family. Director Krennic searched for him.- and eventually found him. The Director threaten to kill his family – in fact he did kill the wife.
Chirrut Imwe – One of the guardian of the Jedi Temple in Jedha. He is blind but he can sense the surrounding thru his other senses. I initially thought he was a Jedi, and was hoping that in the fights – he would have light saber.
Saw Garrera – the extremist rebel leader based in Jedha. He was entrusted by Galen to protect Jyn Erso. In the movie – it showed Jyn being pissed with Saw because Saw “abandoned” him.
Director Orson Krennic – the project director for Death Star. He was the one who ran the whole Death Star program from the start till the he was killed.
K-2SO – The reprogrammed Imperial Droid. Quite funny character.
I personally thought that the movie is awesome. It has all the right elements in terms of the story. Its pretty dark and then has right amount of battle scenes. CGI was great – definitely hell a lot better than the original Star Wars movie. Though it did look good then, but when compared to the ones in this day and age – its different!
