Be Happy

Living in perception is the key to happiness. Despite the fact that there’s a lot of happy people out there, everybody has their own problems. If you are rich, then you will be worried about your safety. If you are poor, you are worried about getting the food on the table. If you are on holiday, you are worried about your loved ones back home.

So? Why can people be happy?

It’s because they create a self-perception that everything will be alright, and being stressed would not help the situation. Personally – I do have a lot of problems. Work, finance… life in general. Do I worry, yes I do. But it does not stop me from being happy. We live only once, so we should live our life to the fullest and be joyful. What worse can happen? There’s a solution to every problem.

Typically, whenever I think about a particular problem that I face, I will take a step back and try to systematically understand the situation. Then I will try to figure out what’s the solution. Being creative as I can be! In fact – always think with an open mind. Usually I will do this in the pool, where my mind will wander around because it’s really a boring thing to do. Once you have a plan in place, then start executing it. Be diligent.

In fact, I give names to my plans. Project Olalala, Project SuperSki.. just name it. I am just short of putting down in a slide to outline the plan and also risks that will occur out of the plan. And then subsequently, have a “Project Update” every few weeks to ensure that I follow the plan. Heh heh.

Anyway – in a nutshell, do what ever you can to create the perception that everything will be alright. What worse can happen? There’s always a solution to your problem. If no solution, then find a workaround. Be positive, and Be Happy 🙂
