Clean

Tokyo is a super clean city. No doubt about it. If you see trash on the streets, it’s probably because of tourists. I know it sounds like I’m making a generalization, but Japanese people are really good at keeping their cities clean.

And guess what? When you walk around Tokyo, you won’t see many trash cans. That’s because the Japanese government wants to teach their citizens how to properly dispose of waste. Most people take their trash home or keep it until they see a trash can (which is usually in a convenience store).

Here’s a photo of a security guard sweeping the floor in front of a shop. This is pretty rare in Malaysia, even if it does happen. We’d probably need a bigger sweep because there’s so much trash on the ground!
