It has been quite a while since I last gone to a very long holiday. The last long holiday that I did was probably New York back in 2008 – where I went for approximately 3 weeks. I must say that was an amazing holiday. One thing for sure was that during that time, email on the phone wasn’t the thing. In fact, roaming in an overseas country was extremely expensive. As such – I was definitely detached from the world at home. That was really good. I really enjoyed my time over in New York and since then – about 10 years after, I have not gotten that long of a holiday that I was really able to fully enjoy. In fact, moving on from there – I joined a consulting firm, and my life was back to working long hours, neglecting a lot of things! I finally made the decision to leave the firm, and now will be joining the user environment in a bank. Something new, something that I think I will be struggling at first, but I think I will be able to do well.

Given that I am leaving the firm (which is about 5 days from now), I am taking a long break, approximately 5 weeks before I start my new adventure. I had a lot of ideas at first on what will I do, and finally I decided to go to Japan for 4 weeks. Bought the tickets few weeks ago, and will be flying next Sunday. For the past 2 years, I have been flying to Japan and this year will be no different! The only thing changed is that instead of going for 10-14 days, I will be going for 4 weeks! And I will be using the rail pass to go all around 🙂
Japan tour 2017
The plan so far is as follows:
Thats really a long way to go to be honest. In fact, it probably going to cost me hell a lot of money. The plan so far is to utilise a 21-days rail pass. This will be the first time I will be back packing, not sure how I will be able to handle it, but definitely I will survive. Going to be tough moving from one city to another city! But I guess its time to get used to it. It’ll be a great holiday!
Next posting, is what do I bring to the holiday!
It has been a while since I last posted a photo or even a blog post. I have been pretty busy lately and has not gotten much time off to do things that I want to do. I have resigned from my current post though, and will be moving on to a new career and industry. I take it as a challenge for myself. Going to be extremely challenging but with that, I am taking a long break starting. I do plan to go for a long holiday before I step into the new shoe at a new place.
As I am going for a break, it is a good time for me to start picking up back an old hobby that I have long neglected, which is photography. With my new hobby, I think it is also a good time for me to start posting a photo a day! Will this work, I don’t know but let’s try for the next one week and see if I am able to do this. The photo I guess can either be an old photo or a new photo that I taken throughout the week. It does not matter whether I take the photo using my phone or my camera. The important thing is about me having to capture something.
The photo taken is one is on my really old Nikon back in 2006. On a trip to Kuala Terengganu. I must say, the exposure was perfect, I wish I had a better camera so that I can manipulate the dynamic range and get a better photo. Perhaps when I get a better camera, I will make a trip to Terengganu again and reshoot this photo. It has been 9 years since I last took this photo. Just amazing. Looking at my old photo – I have progressed so much in terms of photography. I can safely say that in the past – I shoot mostly snapshot, and now I am extremely picky (perhaps also because Lightroom CC is so expensive in terms of storage. I am still clearing up some old photos and archiving it versus keeping it in Cloud 🙂 I will only keep the good photos on the cloud, and the rest can be kept in my hard drive. If I lose it I don’t really care 🙂
First before anything – first update would be on the BP issue. Realised that I took my reading wrongly. And now there are some improvements. I need to keep going to keep it in check. Need to continue to cut down on salt and lose weight.
On the point of losing weight, I know at the start of the year I started the #project364days but I guess that went down the drain. However, I did lose approximately about 14kg and now I need to figure out what to do next.
In the past couple of weeks – I’ve been considering going aggressive and try out Atkins/Keto type diet to really shock the system. Despite the fact that slow burn is the best, my personality doesn’t seem to be working well as I tend to drop off the bandwagon quite quickly. I need to focus on something that’s solid, very regimented and something that I can follow to the teeth. There are a lot of changes that need to make but I guess in order to accelerate, I need to make hard changes and then taper down to a stable pace.
In total – I have about 60kg to lose as of to date. That’s pretty a lot. Not a simple task, but with perseverance – I am quite sure I can achieve this. Today would be the first day for me to try out this, and I will keep tabs on this and make sure that I can reach what I want to achieve in another 364 days. Not going to be easy.
Few things about this “new” diet,
- Focus on super low carbs
- Get into ketosis zone (need to get some Keto strip)
- Drink a lot of water. At least 3L a day.
- Regular exercise.
I’ve seen people who lost 20kg even on the first month. I doubt I would be able to get down to that. In fact – the first 5 weeks is the most important and I am hoping that I can achieve it.
Plan for today Day 0…
- Breakfast – skip!
- Lunch – salad at subway
- Dinner – chicken and vegetables.
As I am also trying to reduce my BP, for the first five weeks it is going to be challenging because I will be skipping direct salt. Must also reduce water retention. So skip everything.
For now – no cheat meal has been planned. But let’s focus on getting thru the first 5 weeks and decide where I want to head to next. Going to be an amazing journey. Wish me luck!
Last weekend I did a trip to Kuala Sepetang because I thought I wanted to eat cockle. The last trip I did to Kuala Sepetang was couple of weeks ago in which I went for motorcycle trip up north to Penang. A friend of mine introduce me to this place called Restoran Tepi Sungai (Restaurant By The River).
The restaurant it self is on a platform above the river mouth, along the mangrove coast of Kuala Sepetang or better known as Port Weld. It was a short trip and I did not do any food photography. It was mainly a food trip to eat dinner. I did however took a few pictures when I was walking out of the restaurant. One of these days I should make a trip there and go for some street shooting. It does look like a nice place to shoot.
Here are some photos that I took…
The location of Kuala Sepetang is as follows, click on the link to head over there!
The other stuffs thats famous there are charcoal factory and prawn mee. Which I’ve never been to both!
Still no idea where this is, but its definitely in New York. Looking at my old photos, definitely making me feeling like going for a holiday again in New York. It is such a cultured place in which there’s a lot of things that we can do, eat and see. Definitely not good for the artery!
