Countdown to the long holiday

It has been quite a while since I last gone to a very long holiday. The last long holiday that I did was probably New York back in 2008 – where I went for approximately 3 weeks. I must say that was an amazing holiday. One thing for sure was that during that time, email on the phone wasn’t the thing. In fact, roaming in an overseas country was extremely expensive. As such – I was definitely detached from the world at home. That was really good. I really enjoyed my time over in New York and since then – about 10 years after, I have not gotten that long of a holiday that I was really able to fully enjoy. In fact, moving on from there – I joined a consulting firm, and my life was back to working long hours, neglecting a lot of things! I finally made the decision to leave the firm, and now will be joining the user environment in a bank. Something new, something that I think I will be struggling at first, but I think I will be able to do well.

Given that I am leaving the firm (which is about 5 days from now), I am taking a long break, approximately 5 weeks before I start my new adventure. I had a lot of ideas at first on what will I do, and finally I decided to go to Japan for 4 weeks. Bought the tickets few weeks ago, and will be flying next Sunday. For the past 2 years, I have been flying to Japan and this year will be no different! The only thing changed is that instead of going for 10-14 days, I will be going for 4 weeks! And I will be using the rail pass to go all around 🙂

The plan so far is as follows:

Thats really a long way to go to be honest. In fact, it probably going to cost me hell a lot of money. The plan so far is to utilise a 21-days rail pass. This will be the first time I will be back packing, not sure how I will be able to handle it, but definitely I will survive. Going to be tough moving from one city to another city! But I guess its time to get used to it. It’ll be a great holiday!

Next posting, is what do I bring to the holiday!
